About The Artist

White Salmon Washington has been my home for 32 years. I have been a full-time metalsmith since 1974. My ties to Portland Oregon are strong. I grew up in Lakewood, Washington and have strong ties to that area as well, (being 4th generation).

I have been a full-time studio rat since 1975 and was fortunate to have Anne Hughes and Friends' first exhibit in Portland OR which included weavings and paintings. It was a lucky break.

My next success was being invited to join the board of Contemporary Crafts Gallery, This was an amazing learning experience and a chance to meet many of the top craftsmen and collectors in the area. I feel humbled to have joined such company so early in my career.

Shows followed and I worked hard.

My next milestone was a call I received, (a moment I will never forget,) telling me I had won a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Fellowship.

Since then, I have raised two daughters, worked hard, thirsted for knowledge and lived. During a difficult period I dreamed poems and learned to put words to my work. Lately, I have been doing some miniature paintings and have a hand-sewn small sculpture series begun.
